The Game

The Basics

Undoing Ruin is at tabletop role-playing game for 4-6 players that can be played as standalone sessions or as a longer campaign. It is a game about war, hope, identity, comradery, and fighting to break free of oppressive systems and build something better. Players take on the role of Androids created to fight against hostile machines and save humanity, while they grow as people and have to decide what their role in the world after the conflict ends will be.

Character Creation

Undoing Ruin features a robust character creation system designed for in-depth customization and flexibility over the course of play. Some features of the character creation system are:

  • Three core Android Operating Systems that serve as the backbone of characters.
  • Extensive lists of weaponry, general equipment, body modifications, software, and companion Drones that flesh out an Android’s abilities.
  • Mechanics for swapping out core character attributes and equipment on a session by session or even mid-session basis.

System Features

The system for Undoing Ruin is stand-alone and has the following features:

  • One-roll engine and low modifiers for simplicity and ease of play.
  • Tactical Combat that emphasizes “rule of cool” over large numbers.
  • Narrative mechanics that allow players to have their “big damn hero” moments and for the game runner to add new twists to sessions.
  • Optional resource gathering and processing mechanics that allow players to build up regions of the game world and reap the benefits.

Extensive NPC Index

In addition to the core mechanics and character creation options, the core rulebook for Undoing Ruin includes over 80 pre-built NPCs including hostile machines, human survivalists, and vehicles, as well as instructions for creating custom NPCs.
